Description

By now you have probably at least heard of blogging, RSS, podcasting and wikis, and perhaps you even read blogs, or have used Wikipedia, but perhaps you still aren't sure how these new trends in technology can be put to use in your library, or why these trends should be important to you. Come learn about these trends in technology, and why they are useful to librarians and libraries. We will demonstrate examples of how these technologies can be useful to both patrons and staff of all types of libraries, and show you that expanding your library's use of technology can be free, easy, and fun.

Expected outcomes

  • people will become more comfortable with technology trends
  • allow librarians and library workers to see how these new trends in technology can benefit both their staff and patrons
  • help librarians to find the tools to expand their library's presence on the internet

Note: This presentation was originally given in a slightly different form at the Colorado Association of Libraries Conference, Friday, 10 November 2006, 1:45 - 2:45 pm, at the John Q. Hammons Convention Center, Aspen Room.
